Those who commit violence against women in politics (VAWP) seek to control and restrict women’s participation in political processes and institutions on the basis of their gender through emotional, social, or economic force; coercion; pressure; or physical and sexual harm.1 This violence exists worldwide and is a significant barrier to women’s political participation.
